The baccarat table has a simple layout,
which basically consists of player seating positions marked by
numbers, and three betting rows going round the table. The
table is asymmetrical, meaning it is the same on both sides, and can
accommodate up to fifteen players at once. If you look closely
at each numbered seat position, you will see there are three boxes
lined up, running to the center of the table. These three
spaces are where each player can place chips. The first space,
which has one of the letters from the word "Players", is where chips
on the Player Hand are set. The second space back - with one
of the letters from the word "Bankers" - is where chips on the Bank
Hand are set. The last box closest to the center of the table,
which is marked by the player's seat number, is where chips for a
Tie bet are set. In the middles of the table, the small boxes
numbered 1-15 are where commission fees on Bank Hand wins are
tracked. Before a player leaves the table, they are required
to pay their commission fees to the caller.
Speaking of the caller,
on the baccarat table, 3 dealers, or callers, work the game in a mode
functionally similar to craps dealers. Dealer's at Position 1 and
Position 2 stand near the chips on one side of the table. These
dealers take care of betting on their side of the table. Position 5 is
the caller’s. He stands in the center of the table on the
opposite side from the two end dealers and makes calls on the hands. Callers
direct the game-play around the baccarat table.
Since players are dealing cards, the caller's are necessary, and
watch over the table very closely.
